I learned something early on in my life; I like controlling my own destiny. It's not for everyone. You have to be a risk taker, you must be driven, and you also must be disciplined. These are traits I possess and they have worked well in my real estate practice.
I believe it's important to get to know about someone before you hire them to work for you. With that thought in mind, here's a little about me.
Originally from Albany, NY and that's where I spent my childhood and teenage years. I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and hold a BA in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration. I worked in the hospitality field for a number of years and although I had worked for several different companies, my formidable years were with Marriott Hotels who put me through their management training program. From the hotel field, I went on to the extended stay market where I worked several years as a regional sales representative with Oakwood Corporate Housing. I had a robust career with them and was awarded regional sales rep of the year before I Ieft. Although I enjoyed my experiences and training with all these firms, I knew deep down I always wanted to be my own boss.
Before relocating to South Florida I lived in Washington, DC for over 20 years. In 1991 I started a corporate housing company in the Washington, DC area and built it from the ground up to 250 apartments before selling the business in 1999. I then went on to work in corporate America as a VP for a large REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) before recognizing I was happiest when I was running my own show. So in 2003 I started a web based nationwide locator service for furnished rentals that I sold in 2016.
I have been actively practicing real estate full time here in South Florida since 2011. In that short period of time, I have become one of the top producing realtors in our office with over 500 agents.
Although real estate is my passion, I have many other interests. Leading a healthy lifestyle is very important to me. I am an avid fitness buff and train at least six days a week with weights and also include lots of cardio too. I am an artist (oil painting) and have had a few shows and have sold some of my work. I enjoy seascapes, landscapes and still lifes. I have taken many workshops and also enjoy painting out on Cape Cod.
Animals are also important to me. I share my home with a one year old Standard Poodle Maggie who likes to cause trouble and a chihuahua Buddy who rules the roost. Our latest feline is Tigger, street cat who found her way into our hearts.
